Dukes Meadows Regeneration | Pedestrian footbridge

Updated: Jul 14, 2021

ISSUE 01 | JULY 2021

I'd like to take this opportunity to introduce Knights Brown following our appointment by London Borough of Hounslow as principal contractor for the design and construction of the pedestrian footbridge at Dukes Meadows. The completed works will provide an iconic structure that adds to the character of the local area and fulfils a much-needed link for a safe and inviting route along the Thames Path.

Description of the works

The new footbridge is on the North Thames Path, under Barnes Bridge. The Thames Path is already a very well used route with over a thousand cyclists and pedestrians using nearby sections each day.

The main objective of the new bridge is to facilitate a safe and inviting route along the Thames Path, resolving the issue of a railway line that severs the path and removing a frustrating dog-leg along the scenic walking and cycling route. It will contribute to making London easier to cross, duplicating the already proven accessibility benefits of similar bridges.

The bridge has been designed with durability, maintainability, and aesthetic appeal with insistence on high quality materials and finishes fitting to its prominent position along the Thames. The bridge will anticipate and reduce the maintenance required over its expected 100+ year lifetime with robust finishes such as stainless steel and aluminium.
